About horses and battles

You might have seen statues of people riding on horses at public places like gardens etc.

Have you ever wondered why the horses are in different positions? like sometimes the horse will have both its feet up and sometimes only one why is that?

There is a reason behind it:

  • If the horse in the statue has both its front legs up, it means that the person sitting on it died fighting in battle.
  • If the horse in the statue has one of its front legs up, it means that the person sitting on the horse died due to injuries sustained on the battle field
  • If both the front legs of the horse are on the ground then it means that the person sitting on it died of natural causes
